What Size Sleeve Do I Need?

Choosing the correct sleeve size is one of the most important steps in protecting your vinyl collection. A sleeve that's too small can place unnecessary pressure on album jackets, while a sleeve that's too large may not provide the secure fit collectors prefer.

Use the guide above to quickly identify the best sleeve size for your records, gatefold albums, deluxe editions, and box sets.

7" Record Sleeves

Designed for 7" singles, 45s, EPs, and picture sleeves.

These sleeves provide a proper fit for smaller-format records while protecting artwork from dust, scratches, and shelf wear.

Best For:

  • 45 RPM Singles
  • EPs
  • Picture Sleeves

10" Record Sleeves

Designed specifically for 10" records and specialty releases.

A properly sized sleeve helps prevent unnecessary movement and wear while keeping your collection protected.

Best For:

  • 10" LPs
  • Specialty Releases
  • Collector Editions

12" Record Sleeves

The most common sleeve size for vinyl collectors.

Our 12" sleeves are designed to fit standard LP jackets up to approximately .125" (3mm) thick and are suitable for most single LPs and many double LPs.

Best For:

  • Standard LPs
  • Most Single Albums
  • Many Double LPs

12.75" Oversized Sleeves

Need a little extra room?

Our 12.75" sleeves are designed for thicker record jackets up to approximately .25" (6mm) thick. They provide a more comfortable fit while reducing pressure on album corners and seams.

Best For:

  • Thick Single LP Jackets
  • Heavyweight Jackets
  • Some Double Albums

13" Oversized Sleeves

For albums that require even more space, our 13" sleeves accommodate jackets up to approximately .5" (12mm) thick.

These sleeves are ideal for many deluxe editions, thick jackets, and larger multi-LP releases.

Best For:

  • Deluxe Editions
  • Thick Jackets
  • Triple LPs
  • Some Small Box Sets

Box Set Sleeves

Some collections require more protection than a standard outer sleeve can provide.

Our box set sleeves are available in nine different sizes and are designed to fit collector editions, books, and multi-LP box sets with spines ranging from .75" to 2" (19–51mm) thick.

Best For:

  • Multi-LP Box Sets
  • Collector Editions
  • Vinyl Box Sets with Books
  • Large Format Releases

How to Measure Your Record Jacket

If you're unsure which sleeve size is right for your album, measure the thickness of the jacket or box set spine.

As a general rule:

  • Up to .125" (3mm) → 12" Sleeve
  • Up to .25" (6mm) → 12.75" Sleeve
  • Up to .5" (12mm) → 13" Sleeve
  • Over .75" (19mm) → Box Set Sleeve

When choosing between two sizes, we generally recommend selecting the larger option. A little extra room is often preferable to a sleeve that's too tight.

Size vs. Style: What's the Difference?

Sleeve size and sleeve style are not the same thing.

Size refers to the dimensions and thickness of the album jacket.

Style refers to how the sleeve is designed, such as:

  • Single Pocket
  • Dual Pocket
  • Gatefold
  • Tri-Fold

A gatefold album, for example, may fit a 12", 12.75", or 13" sleeve depending on its dimensions and thickness.
